David was born in Frankfurt Germany military hospital and spent all of his life (up until high school) moving around the country and the world every two to four years. This is where David’s love for exploration was born. Not coming from a particularly outdoorsy family his love for the wilderness was cultivated during his middle school years while living in Kansas.

David attended Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania where he studied Social Work and was the goalie for his school’s Ice Hockey team. After college he began working at Allegheny Valley School where he was working at a day program for adults with severe to profound developmental and physical disabilities. In 2013, David discovered Second Nature, a place where he could combine his genuine desire to help others with his love of the outdoors, into a job with a beautiful view. He worked in the field for three years, earning Senior Field staff status before moving into his current position of Field Director in December of 2015.

In his free time, David enjoys skiing at Alta, attending Yonder Mountain String Band concerts, and visiting with family during the holidays in Delaware and Virginia. He is also an avid Ravens, Flyers, and Orioles fan.
