Jon graduated from the State University of New York at Potsdam with a degree in Sociology and Wilderness Education with a focus in adventure education. He immediately began his professional career with the Council for Prevention of Alcohol and Substance Abuse in New York. Feeling something was missing, Jon returned to his roots, getting on the Appalachian Trail. Stepping off in Maine, he began another journey working as the Lead Facilitator of the High Ropes Challenge Course at Cayuga Nature Center.

Early in 2011 Jon joined the Second Nature Family working for 3 years as a Field Staff. Taking on the role of a senior level instructor, he found a passion investing in the Second Nature feedback process and staff development, making them a primary focus. In 2014, Jon was promoted to the role of Logistics Coordinator. His main focus is arranging the "back-up" needs of each group in the field. This includes directing the almost daily delivery of food, water and therapeutic supplies, arranging transportation to and from the field, as well as a host of other tasks both anomalous and routine.

Originally from New York, Jon has always spent his summers outdoors and is equally comfortable with technical canyoneering and marathon video game sessions. He spends his time outside of work in places with red sand, reading, white water rafting, bicycle touring, skydiving, and finding excuses not to run.
