As Medical Director, Michaela oversees the physical health of the students. Teamed up with the medical coordinators, a few of her duties include performing physical exams, managing medications, assessing students in the field, and being available for sick visits at the Second Nature Clinic. She believes that trial and tragedy are often a springboard of opportunity into something greater than ourselves. She has always had a passion for helping people and is able to create a trusting relationship with adolescents.

Michaela is a nationally certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She earned a Baccalaureate degree from Weber State University in Utah, and a Master of Science in Nursing from Simmons University, Massachusetts. With nearly a decade of experience, she believes in the importance of a healthy lifestyle, holistic wellness, preventative care, and functional medicine. She has a diverse background in triage and emergency services, surgical care, intensive care, primary care, urgent care, and pediatrics.

Michaela is an active member of several professional organizations including the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Sigma Theta Tau, and the International Honor Society of Nursing.

She believes in developing strong relationships with colleagues, students, and their families, in order to provide personalized care, tailored to meet each individual’s specific needs. Michaela enjoys her leisure time with her son and husband, often including camping, golfing, softball, cooking, riding in the mountains, and traveling.
